3 Books to Read as a Business Owner in 2024

Reading Time: 2 minutes

If you have a particular goal in life, you can find numerous books that offer guidance on how to achieve it. The secret is to gain insights from those who have already accomplished what you desire. You can learn invaluable lessons from the experiences and wisdom shared in books If you’re a business owner seeking success, here are some book recommendations to consider:

The One Thing by Phil Cooke

If you were only allowed to succeed in achieving ONE thing in the next 12 months, what would that ONE thing be? The book talks about how you can focus on the one big thing(OBT) that defines your life’s purpose. This book is very useful if you are struggling with what you can focus on in life & in the new year. The more concentrated your attention is on something, the more powerful the energy, flow, movement, and momentum will forge behind it, and the more likely you’ll be to succeed. Many successful people attribute their success to this laser focus on ONE clear OBT every year.

The Joy of Accounting by Peter Frampton and Mark Robilliard

Truth be told, most business owners are passionate about what they do but they may not be necessarily good with financial management aspects of their business yet in the long run, finance is what creates a sustainable business. The book makes it easy for people from non-finance backgrounds to understand the five aspects of finance which are revenue, equity(capital), liabilities, assets, and expenses, popularly known as RELAX in the book. One of the most profound things I learned from the book is that revenue is not necessarily money since not all payments are made upfront.

The 12 Week Year by Brian Moran and Michael Lennington

This book will help you get more done faster. It is a simple planning system presented in a quick and easy way to read. It is aimed at executing faster, the plans that we make. It breaks a year into 90-day periods if we want to win. So I break down my year into 90-day segments and have a clear plan of exactly what I need to do to make my business plans happen.
